Public Relations in Europe
Main Article Content
Abstract
This academic article aims to present a view of public relations (PR) in Europe in terms of its roots, development, working world, education, research, and theories used in PR research. The elements of this content were brought from 1) existing data & information from books, research & academic articles, and news; 2) findings derived from content analysis with unit of analysis of PR curriculums in Europe from 4 study portal websites; and 3) author’s direct experiences from teaching undergraduate students, attending & sitting in Master’s degree classes, and studying PhD herself in PR at the UK. However, this article does not address any specific country, however, it offers an overview of public relations in Europe. It points out that working & studying PR in Europe is challenging. Because of mixed cultures with various roots & developments, PR in Europe has different meanings from the United States. Delicate understanding of “commonness” and “uniqueness” of each country as well as international communication would be considered as the key to work healthily with/as a PR in Europe.
