Attitudes of the Blind towards Environmental Accessibility

Abstract
This research paper surveyed the blind’s attitudes towards the environment that was accessible for the
visual impaired person. The research methodology was conducted by using direct observation method
on the blind’s behavior, together with structural interview method. The researcher read interview form and
asked interviewees who were selected by purposive sampling method. The samplings were the blinds both
partial blind and totally blind who were adults that had experiences traveling independently from places to
places around Bangkok and vicinity areas. In addition, in-depth interviews with experts and teachers who
worked with the blind were made. In summary, the research finding indicated current problems and suggested
some design guidelines for the blind’s accessibility.
