The Role of Film Media in the Elderly
Main Article Content
Abstract
The article aimed to study the role of film media in the elderly. Today, as the world enters the 21st century's aging society, many countries, including Thailand, are preparing to address new problems and challenges facing the elderly. Film can be considered a form of mass media that has been a part of human society for a long time. The features of film media include both images and sound, which have a significant influence on the elderly. This is because watching movies affects the mental health and well-being of the elderly, reflecting the social reality regarding the elderly, by providing entertainment, relaxation, and changing attitudes and beliefs. Recording historical events through film stories, serving as a good learning medium, and causing imitation in both positive and negative aspects are also effects on the elderly. There are also applications of film in other contexts, particularly in relation to older people, such as cinema therapy, which is gaining increasing popularity among therapists.
