Agri-Tourism Management of The Model Community in Mid North-Eastern Provincial Cluster

Abstract

This article aimed to study 1) the community participation management of agricultural lifestyle contact tourism; 2) the tourists’ opinions toward Agri-tourism; and 3) the Agri-tourism management model in the model community in the mid-northeastern provincial cluster. This study is survey research with mixed methods combining qualitative and quantitative. The population is a purposive sample, and three types of tools were used: 1) 33 structured interview forms are used with village headmen of the local community and government officers who have a role in the model community; 2) a focused group for a group of 8-15 participants, including community leaders and representatives from different career groups at 3 times; and 3) closed-ended questionnaires were used with 400 tourists. Descriptive statistics, the Chi-square test, and the Kruskal-Wallis test were utilized to analyze the data. The results of this study show that 1. Most of the model community members were engaged in Agri-tourism management in all of those 4 dimensions: 1) join in decision-making; 2) participate in operations and carry out activities; 3) join in the benefits; 4) Participate in the evaluation. 2. The opinions of tourists in Agri-tourism showed in 3 dimensions: activities, service, and community management, and 3. The data analysis and synthesis can create an Agri-tourism management model in the model community in the northeastern provincial cluster, which consists of 6 key components, the Agri-tourism Management, Community Organization, Natural Resources and Culture, Agri-tourism Activities, Tourist Learning, and Agri-tourism Service; this was called the “MORALS Model”
