Development of Community-Based Learning Model for Promoting Secondary School Students’ Capability of Creative Use of Cultural Capital

Abstract

The article aimed to study components and develop a community-based learning model to promote the capability of creative use of cultural capital for secondary school students applying, research and development procedures. The sample group for evaluating the effectiveness of the learning model was selected by a cluster random sampling technique and composed of 35 students in Grade 9 from Piyajat Pattana School under Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Patronage in Nakhon Nayok province. The research yielded that (1) there were 3 components denoting capability of creative use of cultural capital of secondary school students. The first component was wisdom management of local cultural capital. The second component was creative production based on local cultural capital. The third component was communication about the value of local cultural capital. (2) The community-based learning model to promote capability of creative use of cultural capital for secondary school students comprised of four stages (4Cs) including collaborative learning; cooperative thinking; creative innovation; and communicating experience. (3) The results of effectiveness of the community-based learning model yielded that 1) the average scores of the capability of creative use of cultural capital among secondary school students increased constantly with statistical significance at .05. 2) The average scores of the capability of creative use of cultural capital among secondary school students were higher than the pre-test scores with statistical significance at .05.
