บทคัดย่อ

This research aims to study and analyze the content and form of three plays by Samuel Beckett which are Waiting for Godot, Endgame and Not I, compared to Buddhist Philosophy. The research found that Backett's plays convey the thought which are significantly similar to Buddhism as followed: The concept of Sufferings is found to be part of the basic nature of his all characters. The circular elements prevailing throughout his plays correspond to the concept of 3 Cycles which indicate an endless circularity of life. The characters' actions and the events happening in the plays resemble the concept of the 3 Characteristics. The concept of Voidness is presented through Beckett's plays along with a lack of essence throughout his plays. The concept of 2 Truth which Beckett uses the form of his plays to question about Conventional Truth and try to seek for Absolute Truth. Finally, the concept of Purity of Mind-Mental Exercises which Beckett uses the form of his plays to arouse the audiences to consider about the truth of the world.
