Abstract

The Creative Research Project: I-san wisdom: interpretation in contemporary contexts towards the creation mixed media art. is qualitative research. The research methodology is to define the conceptual scope of creating mixed media art from reinterpretation in contemporary contexts, using semiotics theory to interpret meaning. The method of operation is to study the data of I-san wisdom, which consists of 2 types: I-san wisdom of the teaching and I-san wisdom Philosophy totaling 328 chapters, 153 I-san wisdom of the teaching type and 175 I-san wisdom Philosophy leading to a new interpretation in contemporary context through 12 I-san wisdom chapters, using semiotics theory. The research aims as follows: 1. Reinterpretation in contemporary context through 12 I-san wisdom chapters, 2. Designing a creative process from the meanings obtained in 12 I-san wisdom chapters, and 3. Creating mixed media works from I-san wisdom. The creative research consists of reviewing the literature through the current context of past stories, creating meaning through various types of objects by looking through the symbolic system, and looking at objects according to their original function as representative images. Showing hardship, endurance. The research results found that the study of I-san wisdom, especially I-san wisdom in the chapter that gives encouragement, for fighting.
