ประวัติศาสตร์นิพนธ์ ‘ยุคพัค จ็อง ฮี’: ทบทวนการรับรู้สาธารณรัฐเกาหลีสมัยประธานาธิบดีพัค จ็อง ฮี ในโลกภาษาอังกฤษ

งานเขียนชิ้นนี้มุ่งศึกษามุมมองและการอธิบายเกาหลีใต้ภายใต้การเมืองยุคพัค จ็อง ฮี ผ่านงานประวัติศาสตร์นิพนธ์ภาษาอังกฤษเป็นสำคัญ โดยผู้เขียนได้ใช้กระแสของ ‘อาวรณ์อำนาจนิยม (Authoritarian Nostalgia)’ ที่ทำให้ยุคการปกครองแบบอำนาจนิยมทหารกลับมาได้รับความสนใจในวงวิชาการ เป็นจุดแบ่งการพิจารณา ทำให้เกิดการแบ่งเป็น 2 ช่วง นั่นคือ งานนิพนธ์ที่เขียนขึ้นในช่วงก่อน ค.ศ. 1997 และงานนิพนธ์ที่เขียนขึ้นในช่วงหลัง ค.ศ. 1997 จากการศึกษาพบว่า ในช่วงก่อน ค.ศ. 1997 ยุค พัค จ็อง ฮี เป็นเพียงภาพย่อยและส่วนประกอบของนิพนธ์ประวัติศาสตร์ในระยะยาว (Longue Durée) และหลักวิชาทางสังคมศาสตร์อื่น ๆ ต่อมาหลัง ค.ศ. 1997 จะได้รับการทำความเข้าใจโดยบรรดาทฤษฎีทางเลือก รวมถึงมีการใช้หลักวิชาและแนวคิดทางสังคมศาสตร์ในการพิจารณายุคดังกล่าว จากการเมืองหลังกระบวนการทำให้เป็นประชาธิปไตยและวิกฤติเศรษฐกิจ ค.ศ. 1997 และมี ฮย็อง อา คิม (Hung A Kim) เป็นหัวเรือใหญ่ในการศึกษาเชิงลึก โดยมีแนวทางนิพนธ์ทั้งการตั้งแง่วิพากษ์หรือสรรเสริญ ก่อนที่จะขยายเป็นการศึกษาในหลากหลายมิติมากขึ้นซึ่งจัดประเภทได้ยากอย่างมากในช่วงครึ่งหลังของทศวรรษ 2010
