เจื่องจิง: เบื้องหลังการก่อร่างสร้างรูปเวียดนามร่วมสมัย

งานวิจัยนี้มุ่งศึกษาประเด็นสำคัญ 3 ประการ ได้แก่ ชีวประวัติ แนวคิด และบทบาทของเจื่องจิง (Trường Chinh) ปัญญาชนในพรรคคอมมิวนิสต์เวียดนาม ผู้มีอิทธิพลการสร้างชาติเวียดนามนับตั้งแต่ก่อนเวียดนามประกาศเอกราชในปี 1945 ไปจนถึงการปฏิรูปประเทศหรือ โด่ยเหมย (Đổi mới) ในปี 1986 ประเด็นที่ 2 ผลงานเขียนที่สร้างไว้นับตั้งแต่การวางยุทธศาสตร์การต่อสู้ในสงครามต่อต้านฝรั่งเศสและอเมริกาทั้งแนวคิดทางการเมือง การวางรากฐานทางเศรษฐกิจ โดยเฉพาะอย่างยิ่งการวางโครงสร้างสังคมและวัฒนธรรมแห่งชาติเวียดนาม และประการสุดท้าย ความสำเร็จและความล้มเหลวของการรื้อสร้างสังคมเวียดนามผ่านผลงานและแนวคิดของ เจื่อง จิง โดยผลการศึกษาพบว่าเจื่องจิงเป็นหนึ่งในนักชาตินิยมที่มีพื้นฐานครอบครัวมาจากตระกูลนักปราชญ์ประกอบกับที่ได้รับการศึกษาแบบตะวันตกเป็นปัจจัยผลักดันให้เข้าร่วมขบวนการชาตินิยมซึ่งเขายึดตามแนวทางคอมมิวนิสต์ แนวคิดส่วนใหญ่ของเขาตั้งอยู่บนพื้นฐานแนวคิดมาร์กซ์-เลนิน ทว่าได้ยึดเอายุทธวิธีการเคลื่อนไหวจากเหมาเจ๋อตุงมาปรับใช้กับสถานการณ์ในเวียดนาม ชีวิตของเจื่องจิงประสบความสำเร็จสูงสุดจากการเป็นผู้นำการปฏิวัติเดือนสิงหาคม 1945 และสบความล้มเหลวที่สุดด้วยนโยบายปฏิรูปที่ดินจนทำให้ถูกลดบทบาทลง ทว่าหลังจากนั้นเขาก็ยังมีบทบาทในพรรคคอมมิวนิสต์อยู่ เจื่องจิงเปรียบเสมือนสถาปนิกในการสร้างสังคมและวัฒนธรรมเวียดนามภายใต้สิ่งที่เรียกว่า “วัฒนธรรมประชาธิปไตยใหม่ (văn hóa dân chủ mới)” และช่วงบั้นปลายชีวิตเขายังได้ทิ้งมรดกชิ้นสำคัญซึ่งส่งผลมาจนถึงเวียดนามในปัจจุบันคือการผลักดันการปฏิรูปทางเศรษฐกิจ
