Investigation of the Definition of Home Economics Profession in a Vocational Education Context

Abstract
This qualitative study investigates the definition of what the Home Economics Profession is within a framework of vocational education. Utilizing in-depth interviews conducted through a structured approach, the research engages executive management officers from the Office of the Vocational Education Commission, vocational college directors, expert home economics teachers, and vocational education instructors, totaling eight participants. The research employed semi-structured in-depth interviews along with observation, recording, and audio recording techniques. By examining multiple perspectives, the study delves into the understanding of the Home Economics Profession in the context of vocational education.
The findings of this research illuminate the definition of the Home Economics Profession within the framework of vocational education, encompassing areas such as clothing and apparel, diet and nutrition, artificial art, beauty businesses, and elderly care management. All of which are embedded within a lifestyle and infused with Thai cultural elements. These domains showcase an interdisciplinary fusion, enabling the application of both knowledge and specialized skills to offer services that contribute to society within their respective professional domains.
