A Study on the Errors of Transitional Conjunctions

Abstract

Conjunctive adverbs indicating转折 (turn or transition, here referring to "concessive" in a linguistic context) are among the most frequently occurring words in both spoken and written language, occupying a significant position in lexicology and playing a crucial connecting role in sentences. Foreign students often make errors when learning concessive conjunctions. These errors mainly fall into three types: addition errors, misuse errors, and omission errors. Based on the ontological study of conjunctions, this paper will classify the errors made by foreign students and analyze their causes. Finally, it proposes principles and strategies for teaching concessive conjunctions in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL).
