On the Teaching Resources and Practice Cases of the Localization of Chinese Culture Teaching at Phuket

With the continuous advancement of the localization of International Chinese Education, especially the overall increasing of Chinese proficiency of overseas learners, the localization of Chinese culture teaching has gradually become a topic of research. This paper has three purposes: firstly, to discuss the basic theoretical issues of the localization of Chinese cultural teaching; Secondly, to explore and summarize the cultural resources which exist in Phuket Chinese culture and suitable for Chinese culture teaching; Thirdly, to make a case study on the localization practice of Chinese culture teaching in the Confucius classroom at Phuket Wittayalai School. The main research methods include literature research and theoretical analysis, field investigation and interview, case analysis and synthesis. The main research conclusions are as follows: First, the localization of Chinese culture teaching, as a Chinese culture teaching model, refers to the purpose of effectively carrying out Chinese culture teaching in the local areas by exploring localized Chinese cultural elements and comparing the similarities and differences between Chinese culture and local culture based on the actual local life of overseas Chinese learners. Second, Phuket Chinese culture is localized Chinese culture, its core contents include Phuket Chinese temple culture, Phuket Chinese architecture culture, Phuket Chinese food culture, Phuket Chinese festival culture and Phuket Chinese club culture, which can become the teaching resources for the localization of Chinese culture. Third, the teaching reform of the Chinese experimental class in the Confucius Classroom at Phuket Wittayalai School has set up a series of Chinese culture teaching courses, actively explored the localization of Chinese culture teaching, and achieved positive results.
