A Review of Language Learning and Language Acquistion

This paper adopts the literature method to sort out the discussions about "language learning" and "language acquisition", and summarizes the understanding of "language acquisition" and "language learning" in the following five cases. First, the language learning dominant theory, which believes that the acquisition of language ability can be called "learning"; Second, the first language acquisition theory, which believes that the acquisition of language ability of children is driven by the innate language mechanism, and that language cannot be acquired through the general cognitive ability; Third, the dominant theory of language acquisition, which advocates that the acquisition of a second language, like the first language, is also called language acquisition, but doesn’t deny the connection between learning and acquisition; Fourth, the two are clearly different. Scholars distinguish between the two in terms of the way of acquiring language ability, the successive stages, the stage of physical and mental maturity, the participation of the conscious or unconscious mind, and the language environment, etc. Fifth, the neutral point of view is that "language learning" and "language acquisition" are not two independent and mutually antagonistic relationships, but exist in a certain relationship with each other. There is a certain relationship between them.
