Research on Traditional Chinese Medicine Translation in the Perspective of Bibliometrics and Visualization Analysis

Abstract

This study aims to examine the current state of research in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine translation and identify the key areas of focus. Employing bibliometric methods and leveraging the CiteSpace software along with the quantitative analysis feature of the CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure) database, the study intends to present a comprehensive overview of the existing research and accomplishments related to TCM translation. Moreover, the research provides insightful recommendations for the future direction of TCM translation studies. It is found that since 1992, the number of periodical papers published in TCM translation research shows a wave-like upward trend, with occasional decline in the middle, during which there are three small growth peaks. The rapid development stage of TCM translation research has been greatly influenced by the strategy of "going out of culture" and Chairman of Xi's voice for revitalizing TCM on different occasions. This research field has formed five core journals, four high-yield core authors and five hot research contents. In the future, TCM translation research has certain expansion space and development potential in cooperation between scholars and institutions, broadening research horizons and constructing TCM translation theory.
