A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF CHINESE AND THAI LANGUAGE USING HUMAN ORGANS TO EXPRESS VERBS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF COGNITIVE LINGUISTICS

Abstract

From the perspective of cognitive linguistics, this paper explains the borrowing of human organ verbs in Chinese and Thai respectively, and then compares the human organ verbs in Chinese and Thai. Firstly, classify Chinese and Thai verbs according to categorization theory, then analyze and compare human organ verbs in Chinese and Thai with conceptual metaphor theory. The borrowing conditions of Thai human organ verbs are analyzed, and then the use of Chinese and Thai human organ verbs is compared. The results show that there is no expression of body organs as verbs in Thai, but the borrowing of human organs verbs in Chinese and Thai conforms to the conceptual metaphor theory, the principle of iconicity, and the figure-background theory. The difference is that Thai uses human organs. When expressing verbs, they do not have the same characteristics of time-quantity equivalence between V and N (devices). When Chinese and Thai express verbs with the help of human organs, the concept highlights are different.
