AN INVESTIGATION OF DISYLLABIC COMPOUND WORDS RELATED TO "MU"

Abstract

This paper selects the commonly used word "MU" as the object of investigation, and in the context of the corpus, it conducts a more detailed study and analysis on the characteristics of word formation, sentence components and pragmatics of disyllabic compound words "MU". The study found that in terms of word formation, disyllabic compound words that "MU" participates in mainly include seven types: joint, partial formal, supplementary, verb-object, subject-predicate, additional, and reduplicating. Because of the rich ways of word formation, it has very high productivity and can synthesize a large number of compound words with other phrases. In terms of syntactic components, "Mu" itself and its compound words can mainly serve as the subject, predicate, object, and also serve as the subject-predicate. They can serve as more abundant components, but because they are mainly nouns, most words can only serve as the subject or object. Of course, there are many words that can both serve as the subject and the object. In terms of pragmatics, the use of disyllabic compound words formed by disassembling and combining the words "MU" as a component achieves the effect of enhancing the expressive ability in the actual communication process; the words "Mu You" and the use of the structure "You Mu You", to observe its expressive ability and characteristics as a popular buzzword; from the expression of emotional color expressed by "MU" alone and some disyllabic composite words in which "MU" participates, discover differences in the evaluation of people in specific contexts.

This paper investigates disyllabic compound words involved in "MU" from multiple angles, hoping to describe and understand its appearance more clearly, so as to get a more reliable conclusion.
