A BRIEF ANALYSIS OF THE TRANSLATION FROM CHINA MUSIC PLAY PLATFORMS OF MASTERPIECES LYRICS CREATED BY AMERICAN RAPPER EMINEM : TAKING QQ MUSIC AND NETEASE CLOUD MUSIC AS EXAMPLES
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The music platform's translation of related English rap works affects the audience's artistic appreciation experience. This article selects the famous American hip-hop singer Eminem's representative works "Lose Yourself" and "Not Afraid" as the analysis objects, and analyzes and compares the Chinese translations of the two songs on China's QQ Music and NetEase Cloud. The results found that the translation of lyrics on both platforms is oriented towards domestication, using the skills and strategies of addition, subtraction, conversion, or flexible translation, which could basically deliver the information of the original words. And the positive and negative content in the lyrics is translated in different ways, based on functional equivalence theory and teleology respectively. The research also shows that the Chinese translation does not reflect the original lyrics, which have many creative rhymes and attract fans to cover the songs. Meanwhile, it is weakly related to the singer's own style and personality, and there is a certain deviation in translation understanding. Among them, NetEase Cloud Music has more mistakes than QQ Music.
