A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF BUSINESS CHINESE USAGE BETWEEN NEW CHINATOWN (HUAI-KHWANG) AND CHINATOWN (YAOWARAT)

According to the Increasing of Thailand tourism in 2016. There are huge numbers of foreign tourists visited Thailand continuously especially Chinese Tourists. About 9 millions of Chinese Tourist visited Thailand this year which are increase 10.34% from last year. The Business Chinese Language Usage is not only a spoken language between tourists and entrepreneurs but also another way to inform tourist such as sign, price tag and any other media. The Supporting of Business Chinese Language will lead to a stimulating of the nation economy and make massive income to local business. Then we cannot refuse that “Language” is the most important thing in communication and a development of Tourism in our nation.
Bangkok Chinatown is one of the important tourist attraction in Thailand. Therefore for the business in Chinatown have better services with Chinese Langeage usage and level up the services to satisfied Chinese tourists. This research will focus on the Chinese language usage and give entrepreneurs suggestions for services improvement in both Bangkok Chinatown. The core of this research related with an evolution and situation of both Bangkok Chinatown. The research uses the questionnaire to find differentiations of language in Chinatown Yaowarat and Chinatown Huai-Khwang, which are separated in to two parts include Chinese Tourist in Chainatown and entrepreneurs in Chinatown.
As a result of the survey. The both Chinatowns still have a lot of problem in Chinese usage. Especially Yoawarat Chinatown. The Most of entrepreneurs cannot use Chinese Mandarin. They can only speak Chaozhou Chinese and almost employees never learn mandarin before. In addition, entrepreneurs never have a Chinese usage training because they focus on English language more than Mandarin. On the other way, employees in Huai-Khwang Chinatown can use a fluent Chinese, only one problem is an accent. Therefore this research will lead us to improvement of Chinese usage services in Chinatown areas. Such as give a Chinese usage training to the employees and add more Chinese sign, tag, and notice etc.
