Abstract

Chinese majors have been set up in most universities in Thailand, and ancient Chinese course is also one of the indispensable learning courses. Ancient Chinese and modern Chinese have an inseparable relationship, but the learning of ancient Chinese are much more difficult than modern Chinese. Students think that ancient Chinese is much more obscure and difficult to understand than modern Chinese. I use the opportunity of teaching at Huachiew Chalermprakiet University in Thailand for one academic year, through interviewing with teachers and students, sending questionnaires to students at Huachiew Chalermprakiet University in Thailand, then I analyzed the teaching status of ancient Chinese courses of the aspects of teaching materials, teachers’ feelings and students’ status, and put forward some suggestions for the teaching methods of ancient Chinese suitable for Thai students based on my own teaching experience and feedback.
