Abstract

The beliefs of Thai people in Buddhism include the concept of merit. It is believed that anyone who accumulates a lot of merit will be reborn as a wealthy and prosperous human being, respected by others, and will enjoy a flourishing life. Upon death, they will reap the rewards of their merit in heaven. However, if one accumulates a lot of evil deeds, upon death, they will be reborn in hell or other realms of suffering. Nowadays, as modernity flows in, the belief in heaven and hell gradually diminishes, along with the fear of sin and wrongdoing. Just like today, why do some people who do evil see only prosperity, while some who do good see no benefits and continue to suffer? This has led people to distance themselves from the belief in rebirth, this life and the next.

With such influence, I am interested in creating works of art in the form of belief in the results of the law of karma, which has been reduced in detail, like a belief that is beginning to be forgotten. But this simplicity also has something to remind us of, such as some large body parts, arms and legs that are unusually long, according to the results of different karma through sculpture.
