Use of a Smart Balance Wheel for the Creative Dance: Thang Chang Phuak (The Milky Way Galaxy)

Abstract

          The creative dance called Thang Chang Phuak (the Milky Way Galaxy) was inspired by the storytelling of Thai traditional belief of the Milky Way Galaxy known as Thang Chang Phuak to choreograph the dance movements. The postures in the performance include chan song klot, kratai chom chan, and klang am-phon. The show has three sections: first, sang chak fa (the light from heaven), followed by dara sawan (the stars of paradise), and the last section, wiman thewa (the angel palace). Innovatively, the Mini Segway Scooter has been used to the performance to metaphor a flying movement with four directions: moving forward, moving backwards, turning to the left, and turning to the right. All elements are integrated to be a new formation of innovative Thai classical dance
for the current Thai society.
