บทคัดย่อ

ภายใต้การเปลี่ยนแปลงทางด้านสังคม เศรษฐกิจ การเมือง และวัฒนธรรมในบริบทปัจจุบัน ส่งผลให้ผู้คนต้องมีการแสวงหาความรู้ด้วยตนเองเพื่อการปรับตัวที่เหมาะสมกับความเป็นโลกาภิวัตน์ การจัดการศึกษาก็เช่นกัน ควรอยู่บนพื้นฐานความเชื่อที่ว่า มนุษย์ทุกคนมีศักยภาพที่จะสามารถพัฒนาตนเองได้ด้วยตนเองอย่างต่อเนื่อง  โดยเนื้อหา  วิธีการเรียน และการประเมินผลควรมีความหลากหลายเพื่อให้เหมาะกับความต้องการและธรรมชาติของผู้เรียนเป็นสำคัญ ผู้เรียนต้องเป็นหลักในการคิดริเริ่ม  วางแผน  ดำเนินการเรียนรู้  และประเมินผลกระบวนการเรียนรู้ด้วยตนเอง โดยผู้สอน มีบทบาทเป็นเพียงผู้อํานวยความสะดวกที่คอยแนะนำช่วยเหลือ ส่งเสริม  และกระตุ้นให้ผู้เรียนได้เป็นผู้ดำเนินการเรียนรู้ด้วยตัวเองเท่านั้น ซึ่งแนวคิดนี้ถือเป็นหลักคิดสำคัญของการจัดการศึกษาตามหลักการเรียนรู้ด้วยการนำตนเองที่สามารถช่วยส่งเสริมให้ผู้เรียนสามารถปรับตัวให้เข้ากับการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางสังคมในปัจจุบันและอนาคต ด้วยการใช้สติปัญญาในการขบคิด แสวงหาความรู้และดำเนินการเรียนรู้ด้วยตนเองอย่างเป็นระบบ อันจะนำไปสู่การพัฒนาคนและสังคมอย่างสร้างสรรค์ตามหลักการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตและการสร้างสังคมแห่งการเรียนรู้อย่างยั่งยืนต่อไป
