Main Article Content
Abstract
This mixed-methods research aimed to:1) to study the management models of small hotels within the context of the Mekong River Basin lifestyle, 2) to analyze the components of good management practices, and 3) to propose development guidelines as a success model for small hotels in the Mekong River Basin tourism development area. The study was based on 7-S McKinsey model. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 50 entrepreneurs and stakeholders, as well as questionnaires from 400 tourists using small hotel services. Qualitative data were analyzed using coding analysis and thematic analysis, while quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, inferential statistics, and multiple regression.
The research findings identified 1) Small-scale hotels in the Mekong River Basin adopt a flexible, family-oriented management approach, emphasizing experiential services and local identity, while integrating internal management factors with community networks. 2)The management of small-scale hotels in the Mekong River Basin is anchored in shared values, integrating the 7S McKinsey framework with dimensions of networking, stakeholder satisfaction, social responsibility, and local identity to promote sustainable development. and 3) effective management approaches based on the 7-S McKinsey model, along with outstanding practices in prototype hotels, reinforced by five key factors: Synergy, Satisfaction, Social Responsibility, Solution, and Sacred Product. The knowledge derived can serve as a guideline for enhancing the management of small hotels in the Mekong River Basin tourism development area.
