GUIDELINES FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SUSTAINABLE GREEN TOURISM IN NAKHON CHAI BURIN

Abstract

This research aimed to 1) study the current state of green tourism sites in Nakhon Chai Burin Provincial Group, 2) study problems and obstacles in the management of green tourism in Nakhon Chai Burin Provincial Group, and 3) propose guidelines for the development of green tourism management in Nakhon Chai Burin Provincial Group. This research is qualitative research that was conducted by collecting data based on the examination of documents, making observations, having in-depth interviews with 68 key informants, and organizing a group discussion with one community committee member in the tourist sites, as well as analyzing the content of all collected data.


The results of the research were as follows: 1) the current state of green tourism sites in Nakhon Chai Burin Provincial Group revealed that it had a high level of potential on the whole,  2) the state of problems and obstacles in green tourism in Nakhon Chai Burin Province revealed that the government’s management in the enhancement of the knowledge,  understanding, and concept of green tourism for personnel concerning tourism was the most important issue, and 3) guidelines for the development of green tourism in Nakhon Chai Burin Provincial Group included (1) citing green tourism sites that are world heritage sites as the main selling point, (2) connecting green tourism in Nakhon Chai Burin Provincial Group, (3) enhancing the standard of green tourism, (4) enhancing the knowledge and understanding about the concept of green tourism, (5) strengthening private organizations concerning tourism, (6) building a network of participation in local communities, (7) developing information for advertising and publicizing for the promotion of tourism, (8) presenting the uniqueness and identity of the communities, and (9) generating more income from green tourism for the communities.
