CHALLENGES IN CORE COMPETENCE BUILDING AND BALANCING QUALITY OF WORK LIFE OF PUBLIC ENTERPRISE EMPLOYEES CASE STUDY BANGKOK MASS TRANSIT AUTHORITY*

Abstract
The objectives of this research were to: 1) study using core competencies as a management approach to create a strategic advantage for the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority, and 2) creating a balance Quality of work-life of employees. This study proposed and tested by using mixed-methods research which analyzed qualitative and quantitative research to support that uses interview methods from planning, personal, personal development, and bus operations department and using questionnaires to survey the sample were the staff driver and staff fare collector in bus operations zone 1 – 8. The survey questionnaires were collected data from 466 people. To analyze data using content analysis by applying concepts and theories. The descriptive statistics were used for percentage and inferential statistics, Chi-square test, T-test with Gamma, and F-test.
The result showed that: 1) Working through the strategy of the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority to create competitive advantage but still can't stop losing, and 2) Employee performance is more efficient, where employees have to perform ignore work, affects the quality of life of employees in terms of work, personal life, social and economic.
