The Model of Participation in Capacity Development of the Sunday Buddhist Study Center, Maha Sarakham Province

Abstract
This research aims to (1) study the problems related to participation in the Sunday Buddhist Study Center, (2) explore the model of participation in the capacity development of the Sunday Buddhist Study Center, Maha Sarakham Province, and (3) propose the model of participation for enhancing the capacity of the Sunday Buddhist Study Center, Maha Sarakham Province. This qualitative research employed field studies through in-depth interviews with individuals involved with the Sunday Buddhist Study Center.
The research results were as follows:
Problems with participation in the Sunday Buddhist Study Center: the participation issues at the Sunday Buddhist Study Center are identified in five areas: (1) Curriculum: It does not align with the community context; (2) Facilities: The classes are held in monastery sermon halls or guest buildings; (3) Personnel: There is frequent turnover of staff; (4) Teaching Media: Staff lack proficiency in using modern technology; (5) Activities: The activities do not meet the curriculum objectives.
Model of participation for enhancing the capacity of the Sunday Buddhist Study Center, Maha Sarakham Province: The proposed participation models address four areas: (1) Decision-making: Involves understanding a rational process; (2) Efficiency in Operations: Includes training personnel in modern technology skills; (3) Benefit Sharing: Allows community involvement in support; (4) Evaluation Participation: Involves continuous assessment reflecting the organization’s true weaknesses.
Proposed participation models for enhancing the capacity of the Sunday Buddhist Study Center, Maha Sarakham Province: To enhance capacity, it is recommended to improve Operational Efficiency: Train staff in teaching skills and technology usage and engage in Participatory Evaluation: Establish assessment criteria relevant to the center’s context.
