Abstract

           This research and development The objective is to study the situation and context of daily activities in dependent elderly people. Nonthaburi Province To develop a model for preventing dementia in daily activities to restore cognition and balance in dependent elderly people. and to test a model to prevent dementia in daily activities to restore cognition and balance in dependent older adults. This divided into 3 phases: Phase Ⅰ: synthesized a draft prototype, neurobic exercise, from situations, factors and context of daily activities among 122 dependent older adults, Mahasawat, Bang Bua Thong and Sai Noi elderly club, and 33 persons involved in the community; consists of stimulating the Five Senses, the nervous system exercise, critical thinking and communication. Using a questionnaire on situational factors and contexts in dependent elderly people. and an in-depth interview on policy, operations, service provision, and guidelines for preventing dementia in the elderly who are dependent. Phase Ⅱ : developed a prototype, neurobic exercise, try and develop 4 activities, among 3–5 persons/activity, total of 21 dependent older adults, until a prototype in daily routines got complete. By testing the draft brain training model in small sample groups (small groups). Phase Ⅲ : testing a prototype, neurobic exercise, compare the experimental group, Bang Phai subdistrict, and the comparison group, Koh Kret subdistrict, 30 person group. By using a general information questionnaire Cognitive assessment and balance assessment form. Research results, found that after receiving the neurobic exercise, the experimental group had statistical significant cognitive levels increase than before, had statistical significant cognitive levels increase than the comparison group. But the body balance did not change statistical significance.
