The Development of a Community Network and Promoting Health Literacy in Safe Medical Cannabis Use for the People of Nakhon Nayok Province

Abstract

          Currently, there is no actual database of the situation of cannabis distribution in the area, and the perception of cannabis laws and the use of medical cannabis among the public and patients is still inaccurate. This research aimed to study the level of health literacy regarding the use of medical cannabis among the people of Nakhon Nayok Province. Develop a program to promote health literacy of medical cannabis. Furthermore, study the effectiveness of the program to promote knowledge on the correct use of medical cannabis. This research was a quasi-experimental study—research design with a pre-test–post-test control group. The study setting consists of Chaloem Phrakiat health station, the 60th Anniversary of Nawaminthrachini Sarika, and the subdistrict health-promoting hospital Ban Nong Hua Ling Nai, Nakhon Nayok. The study was conducted between December 2022 – July 2023. The sample group comprised 120 people from purposive random sampling using the selection criteria. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and comparisons of differences in cannabis health literacy between the experimental and control groups were used using t-tests. The study found that the mean values of cannabis health literacy scores were significantly different.
