Association between Family Factors and Parenting Styles and Nutritional Status Among Students Grades 4-6 in Schools under the Office of the Basic Education Commission in 4th Regional Health Area

Abstract

          This research is a descriptive research aimed to study the factors of family, parenting styles, and nutritional status, as well as to explore the relationship between family factors, parenting styles, and nutritional status of students in grades 4-6 in schools under the supervision of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) in Health Region 4. The sample used in this study consisted of parents of 400 students. The data analysis used descriptive statistics, frequency distribution, Z-Score, and chi-square statistics.
          The study found that:
          1. Most parents' education level was vocational education, high school diploma, or higher (27.3%). The majority of families had an income of over 20,000 baht (28.9%). Most families belonged to the three-generation family type (43.0%). The majority of children had one sibling (56.3%). The parenting style of most families was caring (97.6%). The nutritional status of children was generally proportionate (60.9%).
          2. There was a significant relationship between parenting styles and nutritional status at a statistical significance level of .05.
