Main Article Content
Abstract
The services that incorporate the Agile service concept aim to address frequently changing and complex problems, enabling the delivery of services that can adapt to changes (GitLab, 2022). Pre-employment education in the hotel industry, following the Agile service approach, emphasizes learning from real-world experiences to meet the rapidly changing needs of businesses.
This research is a descriptive study with the aim to explore the necessity of managing professional experiential learning for pre-service education curriculum in the hotel industry based on the concept of responsive service. The sample group consists of 59 educational institutions that offer hotel-related programs with a total of 168 respondents. Additionally, the sample group from businesses comprises 2 establishments with 12 respondents, making the total number of respondents 180. The tools used for the research include a questionnaire on the current situation and desired state, a 5-level Likert scale, and data analysis using frequency statistics, percentage, mean, deviation, standard deviation, and the Priority Need Index (PNImodified).
The research results show that the overall Priority Need Index is 0.275. In terms of managing professional experiential learning for the pre-service education curriculum, the highest priority is the assessment of professional training outcomes (PNImodified = 0.277), followed by the implementation of professional experiential learning (PNImodified = 0.276). In terms of service workload, food and beverage service (PNImodified = 0.281) has the highest Priority Need Index, followed by sales and marketing service (PNImodified = 0.275). When considering responsive services, the use of software to support services and learning new technologies to enhance access to service user information (PNImodified = 0.310) has the highest Priority Need Index. The next priority is team collaboration consisting of motivated individuals with good relationships, and continuous improvement of collaborative work methods (PNImodified = 0.277).
