The Lexical Variation of Tai Ya Language Spoken in Mosha in Xinping District of Yunnan Province in People's Republic of China

Abstract

           The objective of this research was to study the social factors of age and habitat of Tai Ya speakers at Mosha Subdistrict, Xinping District, Yunnan Province, People's Republic of China. It has an effect on the vocabulary variation of kidney divorce language. It has an effect on the lexical variation of of Tai Ya language. The sample group used in the study were speakers of Damanlong and Nanhao villages, the speakers were divided into three groups by age level: The first group was over 60 years old, the second group was 30-40 years old, and the third group was 10-20 years old, each group consists of 5 people, totaling 30 people. The research tools included 100 semantic cards, pictures, and a sound recorder. Analyze data using descriptive statistics, including percentages, and content analysis and present descriptive data, with accompanying tables and charts to provide clear comparisons.
           It was found that the speaker's personal factors and background includes personal factors of age, education level, occupation, and knowledge and ability to use Mandarin are different. Affects the lexical variation of Tai Ya language. The results of this research reflect the impact of ethnic languages on the changes in ethnic languages in the People's Republic of China. Besides that, the Tai Ya language spoken in both villages is likely to deteriorate in the near term, as research shows that the lexical variation of Tai Ya language found in the third group aged 10-20 years is very high. By using the Tai Ya language vocabulary spoken in Damanlong Village. There appears to be more lexical variation than the Tai Ya language spoken in Nanhao Village. Damanlong Village is an urban community and an economic city, with more opportunities to experience standard Chinese than the distant Nanhao Village. For the lexical variation of the Tai Ya language in this study, it was found that variation in tone, syllable structure and word level.
