Development of a Non-Formal Education Program to Enhancement of Attitudes in Learning English of Undergraduate Students Based on Transformative Learning Concepts

Abstract

         The objectives of this research were: 1. To develop a non-formal education program to enhance attitudes toward learning English for undergraduate students with the concept of Transformative Learning. 2. To study the factors, limitations, and guidelines for the use of a non-formal education program. In this research, we used five steps based on Boyle's (1981) institutional program development model: the study of problem conditions; Defining learning content, designing learning, learning plan trials, and learning assessments. Data were collected with a participant sample of 334 first-year students from the Panyapiwat Institute of Management. with quality-checked questionnaires and trial using the program with a target group of volunteers who are first-year students of the Panyapiwat Institute of Management for 37 people. The results showed that the components of feeling and behavior were assessed at moderate levels. And belief in the high- level. Suitable content for use in learning should be relevant to everyday life. The learning model used is a transformational learning concept that has been applied to a total of 10 lesson plans. And the learning results confirmed that the program was able to enhance the attitude toward learning English after the completion of the experiment.
