A Development of Sustainable Tourism of Sub-district Administrative Organization Based on Civil State Principle : Grounded Theory

Abstract

        This research aimed to develop the grounded theory of sustainable tourism development of Bang Kachao, Phra Pradaeng District Samut Prakan Province. This was qualitative research with grounded theory. Data were collected from the in-depth interview, focus group, participatory observation, and document analysis. The 15 key informants who were selected with the purposive sampling were from five different groups: sub-district administrative organizations, leaders of communities, temples, non-government organizations (NGOs), public benefit organizations (PBOs), scholars from educational institutes and universities, and communication organizations and mass media. Findings illustrated that: The components of the grounded theory of sustainable tourism development of Bang Kachao, Phra Pradaeng District Samut Prakan Province were the primary phenomenon, which was the process of sustainable tourism development of Bang Kachao, Phra Pradaeng District Samut Prakan Province consisting of five steps: requirement determination, team-building and goal setup, creation and decision-making, parallel knowledge development, and lesson summary and result extension, which required the cooperation of all, causal condition which was the influential factors affecting the sustainable tourism development process, contextual condition which was the participation of community and networks, interventional condition which was the community culture leading to the applicable strategy for developing sustainable tourism that involved the participatory development of community potential, tourism innovation development, and individual potential development, that would finally result in the sustainable tourism of Bang Kachao, Phra Pradaeng District Samut Prakan Province.
