Extension Guidelines of Maize Production for Farmers in Kabinburi District Prachinburi Province

Abstract

          Maize was an important cash crop. In the animal feed industry used as raw material in animal feed products. The objectives of this research were to study 1) social and economic conditions,  2) problems and recommendations on the extension of maize production, 3) extension guidelines of Maize Production.
          The population consisted of 250 maize seed farmers in Kabinburi District Prachinburi Province who registered with the Department of Agricultural Extension in the production year of 2021/22. The 154-sample size was based on Taro Yamane formula with the error value of 0.05. Structured interviews were used for data collection. Statistics used were frequency, percentage, mean, minimum, maximum, standard deviation and ranking.
          The results showed that 1) 64.9 percent of farmers were male, average age 54.46 years. graduated from junior high school,  average experience in maize cultivation 15.16 years. The average yield of maize was 1,077.30 kg/rai. And the average cost of cultivating maize was 4,988.99 baht/rai. 2) Problems in maize production at hight lavel  about planting and caring for maize. Recommendations for growing maize at high level, on issue support, should be an income insurance scheme for maize farmers. From this research, the information obtained can be used to develop an appropriate way to extension maize production.
