Needs and Expectations of the Elderly Friendly Community of Arunyik Municipality, Phitsanulok

Abstract

          The objective of this research was to study the needs and expectation of the elderly friendly community of Arunyik Municipality, Phitsanulok Province. The data were collected by quota sampling the questionnaire asking 400 elderlies from 3,876 total. who live in the municipality and analyzed by using mean and standard deviation. 
          The findings of the study were found that there were 8 facets of their needs and expectation as follows: the social participation was the highest needs and expectation regarding the venue for the gathering, it should be convenient, easy to access, enough lighting, public transport passing the activity venue, followed by exterior building and building itself regarding being clean and shady, having clean and adequate public restrooms, well maintained, easy and convenient to access.  In terms of social service and health, there should be adequate, in terms of residency: it should be strong and stable, suitable for weather condition.  The suggestions from the study is that the public sectors should support the know how to handle the environment and residency and designate the standard of residency management for the elderly by cooperating with public sectors, private sectors, local administrative organizations and elderly community as well as encourage both public and private sectors to provide public facilities according to the right of the elderly.
