Innovative Exploration of Ouroboros Symbol and Digital Craft in Contemporary Jewelry Design

           The objectives of this research were 1) to explore innovative contemporary jewelry designs inspired by the Ouroboros symbol, 2) to examine the cultural and symbolic significance of the Ouroboros and its application in modern jewelry design, 3) to propose novel design concepts and showcase unique jewelry works, 4) to explore the role of Ouroboros in various cultures and its impact on jewelry design, and 5) to highlight how digital innovation, such as 3D printing, can revitalize traditional jewelry-making processes.
           The sample consisted of contemporary jewelry designers and cultural historians specializing in symbolic art. They were selected by purposive sampling to ensure expertise and relevance to the research objectives.The research instrument for data collection was a combination of qualitative interviews and a survey questionnaire designed to gather insights on design preferences and the significance of cultural symbols in jewelry.The statistics for data analysis included descriptive statistics to summarize the survey results and thematic analysis to interpret qualitative interview data.
           The research results were found as follows: 1) There is a diverse range of design preferences among participants, with an average liking for approximately 1.303 design styles per participant, indicating varied tastes and appreciation for multiple design approaches. The Minimalist style emerged as the most favored. 2) Consumer surveys indicate a notable preference for jewelry designs that symbolize cycles, infinity, and vitality, reflecting a strong affinity towards themes associated with the Ouroboros symbol. 3) The research emphasizes the significant commercial potential of Ouroboros-inspired jewelry, particularly among younger consumer demographics, due to the blend of cultural depth and modern aesthetics, as well as the growing demand for sustainable materials.Suggestions include leveraging the cultural symbolism and consumer preferences identified in this research to expand strategically in the jewelry market and create compelling jewelry offerings that resonate with target audiences. Additionally, further research could explore the integration of other cultural symbols with modern technology to continue fostering innovation in jewelry design.
