The Interpretation and Conveyance of Meaning in Thai Traditional Music

Abstract

           The objectives of this research were 1. to analysis the interpretation pattern of Thai music 2. to examine the meaning conveyance of Thai music, the researcher defined a study of the Ramayana Suite, Nang Loi episode, and performed by the Pipat Mainuam Ensemble of the Sisya Sorn Pradit group under the supervision of Master Prasit Thavorn. The sound recording took place at Sermmit's House in 1966.
           The finding was as follows; 1. research results the analysis of interpretation patterns in Thai music, song structure and literary characteristics, and the lyrics are connected to melodies and narratives. The process of interpreting Thai music is based on the knowledge of Thai musicians as the thought system conveyed through playing Thai music, and it requires literacy skills, knowledge of Thai music theory, and expertise in playing Thai music. In addition to semiotic concepts being the most common. 2. research results the representation of Thai music, the analysis of Thai song interpretation identified the following three types: 1)the development of melodic variants and performing techniques for melodic variation songs, 2) the development of techniques for imitating natural sounds and 3) the process of constructing meaning through ensembles, modes, and rhythmic patterns.
