The Quality of Life of the Elderly in Nonthaburi Province

Abstract

          The purpose of this study was to evaluate the quality of life of the elderly in Nonthaburi Province based on personal factors and lifestyle factors. The sample for this research consisted of 400 elderly individuals residing in Nonthaburi Province. Using Simple random sampling. Questionnaires were used as the primary research tool. The statistical analysis involved percentages, means, and standard deviations, as well as t-tests and one-way ANOVA.
          The results revealed that the elderly in Nonthaburi Province had a generally high level of quality of life across all six aspects examined. Among these aspects, the emotional aspect emerged with the highest mean, closely followed by self-determination ability, interpersonal relationships, good physical condition, social integration, and well-being, respectively. Regarding the of the hypothesis testing results, the study discovered no difference in life quality based on gender or marital status. However, age and education level did show some variations in the quality of life. When considering lifestyle factors, no differences were observed in the quality of life based on the source of income, congenital diseases, and membership in groups or clubs. On the other hand, family characteristics, the presence of a caregiver, the level of savings and debt led to different quality of life.
