The Needs of Acceptance and Social Participation of the Elderly in Aranyik Municipality, Muang District, Phitsnulok

Abstract

          This descriptive research aims to 1) study the needs of acceptance and social participation of the elderly in Aranyik Municipality in Muang District, Phitsanulok Province 2) study factors affecting the needs of acceptance and social participation of the elderly in Aranyik Municipality in Muang District, Phitsanulok Province. The subjects were 400 elderlies with over 60 years of age by purposive sampling and proportional of the population in each community. The data were collected by employing questionnaire divided into 2 parts: general data and needs of acceptance and participation in local development of the elderly and analyzed by using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Independent Sample t-test and one tail variant analysis by One-way ANOVA.
          The findings found1) the needs of acceptance and social participation of the elderly in Aranyik Municipality in Muang District, Phitsanulok Province that they need health at a high level with mean of 3.99 and SD of 0.64; in terms of mental needs, it is at a high level with the mean of 3.88 and SD of 0.64; they need social and economic needs at a high level with the mean of 3.90 and SD of 0.61. In addition, 2) factors affecting the needs of acceptance and social participation of the elderly findings found income, adequate income, family characteristics and support are also related to the needs of acceptance and social participation of the elderly social and economic needs with significantly at 0.05.
