A Bibliometric Analysis of Research Studies on Medicinal Plants for Cosmetics

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to examine the research studies related to those medicinal plants for cosmetics, which had been previously published in the Scopus database by employing Bibliographic Analysis Method. The analyzed papers were research articles on medicinal plants for cosmetics, and which were published between 2004-2022. A total of 741items were found. The analytical tool was the Bibliometrix program. The research findings were divided into 2 parts.  Firstly, according to the findings of the related research studies between 2020 and 2022, there was a significant increase in the number of research studies on medicinal plants for cosmetics. Secondly, the results of the biometric analysis were from the general information in the research studies, it was found that the areas of the research agencies and the referenced countries had generally been India, Iran, Indonesia, and Malaysia. These are areas in which the cultures are associated with the use of medicinal plants and the majority of the population professes Islam. In addition, the governmental agencies in these counties promote the research and development of herbal products or Halal products, contributing to the most referenced areas in which medicinal plants for cosmetics.
