Information Use for Local Career Development by Government Officers in the Upper Northern Province 1

This research aimed (1) to study information use for local career development by government officers in the upper northern provinces 1; (2) to compare information use for local career development by these government officers; (3) to study the problems of information use for local career development by government officers; (4) to compare the problems of information use for local career development by government officers.
This research was a survey study and the population consisted of 320 government officers who work for local career development in upper northern provinces 1 (Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang and Mae Hong Son). The instruments were questionnaires. The statistics used in data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, One-way analysis of variance and comparison of matching.
The research findings can be summarized as follows: 1) the government officers in the upper northern provinces 1 use information for local career development mostly at the high level and when classified by each aspect the mostly used were information for self development, followed by personal media for training, meeting, seminar and personnel information sources such as local scholar and community leader 2) Comparing information use by gender and ministry was found the overall significantly different of 0.5, was found that Male use more than female and Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives use less than Ministry of Education but classified by level of education, job experience found no statistical significance of .05 3) The problems of information use were at the moderate level such as insufficient information sources and the limitation of database access without membership and 4)Comparing the problems of information use by gender and ministry were found a significant difference of .05 but classified by level of education, job experience found no statistical significance of .05.
