Capabilities and Competencies of Information Professional in Digital Environment

This article describes capabilities and competencies for information profession in digital environment. Describes the Six Elements of Digital Capabilities by JISC (Joint Information Systems Committee) as follows 1)General ICT proficiency 2) Information, data and media literacies 3) Digital creation, scholarship and innovation 4) Digital communication, collaboration and participation 5) Digital learning and development 6) Digital identity and wellbeing. This paper also describes guidelines of professional competencies approved by professional associations that divided into 1) Core competency or cognitive and 2) enabling competency or attitude.
