Abstract

This study aimed to (1) systematically review and synthesize quality indicators for agrotourism destinations from national and international academic literature; (2) classify and conduct a mapping analysis to examine the linkages between these indicators and the BCG Economy, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP); and (3) develop an integrated framework of quality indicators for agrotourism destinations aligned with these sustainability frameworks. Following the PRISMA guidelines, a systematic review was conducted using Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and ThaiJO databases covering 2000–2024. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 100 relevant studies were selected and analyzed through content and thematic analysis.

The results revealed four major dimensions of agrotourism quality indicators:           (1) Management, (2) Carrying Capacity, (3) Service Quality, and (4) Attractiveness. The most frequently cited indicators included community participation, environmental and waste management, and authenticity of tourism experiences. The mapping analysis demonstrated clear linkages between the indicators and the BCG framework (e.g., organic farming, waste management, and environmental conservation), the SDGs (Goals 8, 11, 12, and 15), and SEP (moderation, reasonableness, and resilience). The key contribution of this research lies in developing an integrated framework for assessing agrotourism destination quality that bridges global theories with the Thai context. The framework provides practical implications for national policy development and serves as a guideline for communities and practitioners to enhance the sustainability and competitiveness of agrotourism destinations.

From a theoretical perspective, this study extends the agrotourism literature by operationalizing sustainability-oriented policy frameworks into measurable destination quality indicators.
