Innovation Capability and Competitive Advantage Affecting the Performance of Small Hotel Entrepreneurs in Kunming, People's Republic of China

The purpose of this study is to 1) examine the innovation capability of small hotel entrepreneurs, 2) examine the competitive advantage of small hotel entrepreneurs, 3) examine the performance of small hotel entrepreneurs, and 4 ) examine the innovation capability and competitive advantage affecting the performance of small hotel entrepreneurs in Kunming, People's Republic of China. This research involves a survey conducted with a sample of 400 small hotel entrepreneurs in Kunming registered with the Kunming City Commerce Department. The research instrument was an online questionnaire collected via WeChat, website, and Application. The data analysis involved descriptive statistics, which were used to calculate the mean and standard deviation, while inferential statistics were analyzed using multiple regression with the Enter Selection technique.
The findings indicate that small hotel business operators gave importance to innovation capability, competitive advantage, and business performance at a high level. Competitive advantage had the greatest impact on the small hotel business operator's performance, with a regression coefficient of 0.614. Innovative capability had the second-highest impact on the small hotel business operator's performance, with a regression coefficient of 0.281 and a statistical significance level of .05.
