A Study of English Communicative Abilities of Matthayomsuksa 2 Using Communicative Approach with Role Play

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to study of English communicative abilities of Matthayomsuksa
2 using communicative approach with role play 2) to compare English communicative abilities
before and after using communicative approach with role play 3) to compare English communicative
abilities after using communicative approach with role play with 70% criterion.
The sample were 44 Matthayomsuksa 2/4 students studying English course, second semester
of 2016 academic year at Nongkipittayokom School, Nongki District, Buriram Province. The research
instruments consisted of 4 lesson plans using communicative approach with role play, English
communicative abilities test. The data were analyzed by mean (X), percentage, standard deviation
(S.D.) and t-test dependant.
The result of the study:
1) The average score of English communicative abilities of Matthayomsuksa 2 students before
and after using communicative approach with role play were 12.69 or 26.44 % and 31.95 or 66.57%,
respectively, increased 19.26 or 40.13%.
2) English communicative abilities of Matthayomsuksa 2 students after learning by using
communicative approach with role play were higher significantly than before at .05 level.
3) English communicative abilities of Matthayomsuksa 2 students after learning by using
communicative approach with role play were lower significantly than 70% criterion at the .05 level.
