Knowledge Management Affecting the Work Performance Efficiency of Personnel in the Paper Packaging Industry in Bangkok Metropolitan Region and Vicinity

This research consists purposes were 1. to compare employees’ job performance in the paper packaging industry in Bangkok and its metropolitan area based on organizational characteristics and 2. to examine the effects of knowledge management on employees’ job performance in the paper packaging industry in Bangkok and its metropolitan area. This is quantitative research. The research instrument was a questionnaire, with a sample consisting of 196 paper packaging industry establishments in Bangkok and its metropolitan area. The sample size was determined using Krejcie & Morgan (1970) at a 0.05 margin of error. The data collected from the questionnaires were then analyzed using descriptive statistics, including percentage, mean and standard deviation. Hypothesis testing was conducted using t-test, One-way ANOVA and multiple regression analysis. The results revealed that 1) overall knowledge management was at a high level (x̄ = 3.62, S.D. = 0.55), with knowledge creation and acquisition having the highest mean score (x̄ = 3.68, S.D. = 0.60). Overall, employees’ job performance was also at a high level (x̄ = 3.63, S.D. = 0.54), with work quality having the highest mean score (x̄ = 3.68, S.D. = 0.66) and 2) Furthermore, knowledge management had a positive effect on employees’ job performance at the .01 level of statistical significance and explained 41.10% of the variance in employees’ job performance (Adjusted R² = 0.411). Knowledge application was the dimension that exerted the greatest influence on employees’ job performance (β = 0.388).
