Abstract

This academic article examines executive virtues and the fostering of employee willingness to work in the context of modern business organizations. In today’s rapidly changing business environment, ethical and virtuous leadership is crucial for building trust and motivating employees to willingly engage in their work . The article presents relevant concepts and theories, including modern management, work ethics, and employee motivation/engagement. It also analyzes executive moral principles from Buddhist perspectives (e.g., Sangahavatthu Four and the Ten Royal Virtues) in comparison with global concepts (e.g., Ethical Leadership and moral management). The findings emphasize that a leader’s virtue and ethics positively affect employee willingness and engagement. Leaders who uphold strong moral values foster greater trust, motivation, and participation among employees. Modern businesses can apply these principles through moral management practices such as transparent communication, cultivating an ethical organizational culture, and involving employees in decision-making. The article concludes with managerial recommendations for developing executive virtues and creating a work environment that encourages employees to work willingly and effectively.
