The Study of Social Capital and Public Service Motivation on the Performance Efficiency of Officials at the Office of Justice Affairs

This research consists purposes were 1. to examine the relationship between social capital and public service motivation with the performance efficiency of officials at the Office of Justice Affairs and 2. to develop a predictive equation for performance efficiency of these officials. This research is quantitative research. The research tool is a questionnaire. the sample group consisted of 105 officials of the Office of Justice Affairs. The sample size was determined using Taro Yamane’s formula with a margin of error of 0.05. In the first stage, stratified random sampling was applied, and in the second stage, simple random sampling was employed within each stratum. The collected data were analyzed using Pearson’s correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The findings revealed that 1) social capital and public service motivation were significantly correlated with job performance of the Office of Justice Affairs officials at moderate and high levels (r = .671, .734), respectively and 2) the factors of participation in public policy formulation, structural social capital, and self-sacrifice could predict job performance of the Office of Justice Affairs officials by 64.0 percent.
