THE PARTICIPATION OF THE PEOPLE IN ANTI-CORRUPTION: THUNG PONG SUB - DISTRICT ADMINISTRATIVE ORGANIZATION, UBONRATTANA DISTRICT, KHON KAEN PROVINCE

Abstract

The objective of this research was to study 1) the public participation and 2) the people’s suggestions. The research instrument used for data collection was the questionnaire. The samples were 372 people living in Thung Pong Subdistrict Administration Organization area. The collected data was analyzed SPSS program. The statistics used for analysis were percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The results revealed that 1) there were 372 respondents including 197 females, 53%, and 175 males, 47%. Most of respondents were, 37.90%, average age between 41-60 years old with, 67.20%, primary education level. 2) the public participation in preventing the corruption of Thung Pong Subdistrict Administration Organization, Ubonrat District, Khon Kaen Province was overall at a high level (= 3.90). Considering each aspect ordered from the highest to the least, they were the participation of consciousness raise in the community, the participation of decision, plan and appropriate operation, the participation of the community activities and the participation of activity monitor and evaluation. 3) There are people’s suggestions that Thung Pong SAO should ask people for their opinions about agricultural electricity provision. People should be trained to prevent corruption. Thung Pong SOA should increase irrigation canals to facilitate every family. Thung Pong SAO should ask the representatives of people for their opinions and conclude with the principles of decision-making. Thung Pong SAO should report the results periodically and continuously. The people in the community should be asked to present the development guidelines and activity plans. And Thug Pong SAO should constantly promote community service activities in order to raise people’s consciousness.
