The Elderly Social Welfare Management Model of Local Administrative Organizations in Nakhon Sawan Province.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were fourfold: (1) to examine the management situations of elderly social welfare; (2) to analyze the confirmatory factors of each selected aspect in the structural equation model of elderly social welfare; (3) to investigate causal relationships with the elderly social welfare management model; and (4) to present the appropriate ways of the elderly social welfare management model in Nakhon Sawan Province. The sample of this study was 384 elderly people who stayed in Nakhon Sawan Province. Also, questionnaires and focus group discussion were used as research instruments. The following statistics were analyzed: frequency, percentage, means, standard deviation, one-sample t-test, confirmatory factor analysis, and path analysis with the program LISREL Version 8.72 and Basic Model.


            Research findings revealed that (1)A whole of the elderly social welfare management of the local administrative organizations in Nakhon Sawan Province was at low level. In the details of each aspect, it was found that one aspect had high level, namely, health and medical care. Moreover, 6 aspects were at low level: Social security, family, caregiver and protection, income, recreation, creating services and support networks, quality of life and accommodation. (2) Six components that be studied as crucial confirmatory factors of each selected aspect of the elderly social welfare management of the local administrative organizations in Nakhon Sawan Province in aspects, namely 1) accommodation 2) Social security, family, caregiver and protection 3) recreation 4) creating services and support networks 5) health and medical care and 6) quality of life. (3) Causal relationship with the structural equation model of the elderly social welfare management model of the local administrative organizations in Nakhon Sawan Province, the goodness of strongly fit statistics was explored: Chi-square = 207.77, df = 1409, P-value = 1.000, RMSEA = 0.000. It revealed that the elderly quality of life received a high direct effect from creating services and support networks aspect, a moderate direct effect from social security, family, caregiver and protection, and a low direct effect from recreation. Moreover, it received a low indirect effect from accommodation aspect, income, recreation and social security, family, caregiver and protection aspect through recreation and/or creating services and support networks. Also, it was found that those aspects could predict the dependent variable at 89.70 percent and at the .05 level of significance; and (4) The appropriate model for managing the elderly social welfare works of the local administrative organizations in Nakhon Sawan Province were 13 ways.
